Therapy should feel emotional.

A category that spoke in symptoms. We rebuilt it to speak like a person, and gave Talkspace a brand people could see themselves inside.

The story

Online therapy felt clinical, transactional, a little cold.

Talkspace had scale and credibility, but a perception problem. The whole category talked about mental health the way a pharmacy talks about a prescription: symptoms, treatment, something to fix. That framing kept therapy at arm's length and kept stigma intact.

The real brief wasn't a campaign. It was a feeling. Talkspace needed people to see therapy not as treatment for something broken, but as a normal, even hopeful, part of taking care of yourself.

The idea was simple and a little radical for the category: show therapy as emotional, not medical. Real members, real faces, real stories, shot with the warmth of documentary portraiture instead of the distance of stock healthcare imagery.

If you could see yourself in the person on screen, the stigma had nowhere left to stand. That single reframe became the spine of the look, the casting, the copy, and the cut.

The result

A brand that finally felt like its members.

Talkspace came away with a visual language it could own: warmer, more human, built around real people instead of stock symptoms. The photography went on to be recognized by Fast Company, and the work reset how the brand talked about mental health across every channel.
